Better Together is a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping children safe and families together while empowering people through meaningful work. Since 2015, Better Together has served more than 3,400 children and 38,000 job seekers through two highly successful programs: Better Families and Better Jobs.
Our Better Families program is aimed at preventing the need for foster care. When parents fall into crisis, our team and network of volunteers step in. We provide background-checked, loving host families to temporarily care for children while their parents work to build a better life. Whether that is finding a job, housing, seeking treatment, or finding reliable child care. Whatever the case may be, our volunteers work with parents each step of the way. The average stay is 45 days compared to the average Florida foster care stay of 596 days. 98% of our families are successfully reunified not requiring further state intervention.
When we realized that over 76% of our families were coming to us due to job loss, we jumped into action and created the Better Jobs program. Through Better Jobs we partner with local churches and equip them with the tools and knowledge to host church-powered job fairs. By getting the community involved and offering resources for job seekers such as one-on-one job coaching, resume assistance, interview attire, and most importantly a welcoming environment, we have been able to serve over 38,000 job seekers.
We thank each and every donor, volunteer, church, and community partner. With your support we are able to continue furthering our mission and serving more children and families.
